Context
At Abbey Carpet I was part of the team maintaining more than 600 production dealer websites on Sitecore CMS, hosted on IIS. The sites share one platform, but each dealer is its own business with its own design, so any change to how sites look has to work across hundreds of them.
What I built
I wrote a custom CSS framework, on my own, for the dealer site network. It gave the team a shared foundation for revamping site designs and standardized how those designs were deployed across the network.
Alongside the framework, I tested and shipped new site features, including:
- a redesigned navigation menu
- parallax effects
- full-width components
- video backgrounds
- lead generation forms
Result
- Development time dropped by 30%.
- Deployments became consistent across the site network, because new work started from the same foundation.
- Other web publishers on the team brought me their hardest custom requests, the ones that needed non-standard work to fit the system.
The dealer sites built on this work are documented on this site: Abbey Carpet dealer sites and Floors To Go dealer sites.
